Aspects of Teaching English
This very practical course is designed to help overseas teachers of English to secondary school students and adults to refresh their teaching methodology. In addition, you will have plenty of opportunities to develop your general language skills and review aspects of contemporary Britain.
The aim of the course is to focus every session on a different aspect of methodology or British culture such as:
- creative ideas for teaching grammar
- using the internet
- techniques for teaching pronunciation
- dealing with ‘difficult’ language
- motivating students
- English as an international and changing language
- using storytelling and drama
- task-based learning
- teaching through content (CLIL)
Language, Mothodology and Culture
The course aims to develop your English language skills, to provide you with a refreshing and practical look at current language teaching ideas and to explore modern British life and culture.
The aim of the course is to:
- develop your general language skills
- provide participants with very practical teaching ideas and new techniques: eg
- creative ideas for teaching grammar
- using the internet
- techniques for teaching pronunciation
- dealing with ‘difficult’ language
- using storytelling and drama
- review the latest teaching material
- explore aspects of modern British life and culture
English in the Primary Classroom
This course is designed to help primary specialists teach English in the primary classroom. Although the main focus is on language teaching methodology, you will have plenty of opportunity to improve your fluency and knowledge of English. The course concentrates on the teaching of grade 3 students and above (ages 8+)
The aim of the course is to enable you to:
- develop your understanding and knowledge of the English language
- gain confidence and fluency for speaking English in the primary classroom
- select, devise and adapt materials for the primary classroom
- experience different aspects of life and culture in the United Kingdom
- select and adapt English songs, games and stories appropriate to the primary classroom
Content and Language Integrated Learning
This course is designed for all teachers involved in the teaching and learning of English through the use of the target language to teach other subjects across the curriculum/bilingual education.
The aims of this very practical course are to look at:
- key principles of CLIL
- syllabus/course design
- materials development and evaluation
- testing and assessment
- language development for both teachers and students
- new ideas and practical activities for skills development
Teaching Business English
This very practical course is designed for all teachers of business English. In addition, you will have plenty of opportunities to develop your general language skills and review aspects of contemporary Britain
The aim of the course is to enable you to:
- develop a comprehensive understanding of the business world
- extend your range of techniques for teaching business English
Teaching English with Technology
The course is designed for all teachers of English who wish to integrate, explore and develop the use of technology in language teaching.
The aim of the course is to:
- develop participants’ awareness of how technology can support language learning
- look at how technology can be integrated into teaching
- equip participants with practical and engaging ideas they can use in their classrooms
- enable teachers to learn about technology through experimentation with various tech tools
- improve participants confidence in using technology in their classes and their digital literacy
- develop participants’ own English language skills and refresh their approach to teaching English
Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence in Language Teaching

The MEI course is designed to help overseas teachers learn mindfulness and emotional intelligence for their own wellbeing and to apply in the classroom with their students. The content is taught using CLIL methodology to enhance both language and content learning.
In addition, you will have plenty of opportunities to develop your general language skills and review aspects of contemporary Britain.
This very practical course aims to provide participants with lots of ideas to help them reflect on and develop their current teaching practice by looking at:
•Their own wellbeing and motivation as teaching professionals.
• Their intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.
• How they can improve the classroom environment and learning outcomes.
• Ways of teaching social emotional learning through a second language.
• Creative ideas to use video, song and texts in the classroom for specific purposes.
• Ways of incorporating mindfulness and emotional intelligence into primary, secondary and tertiary education.
